The Medic-CE Medical Advisory Board members provide expertise for all clinical continuing education programs developed by Medic-CE. The board is comprised of experienced educators and clinical experts in the fields of emergency medicine and EMS education, taking an active, hands-on approach in all Medic-CE programs, guiding and approving the programs and courses, and reviewing their content to ensure it is clinically accurate with the most up-to-date emergency medicine guidelines.
Members of the Medic-CE Medical Advisory Board include board-certified emergency physicians, critical-care nurses, critical-care paramedics, and educators whose combined 100 years of clinical experience covers every level of emergency medical services. Board members are skilled in many aspects of pre-hospital emergency medical services and are active in emergency care as aeromedical-flight and advanced-practice trauma physicians, medical directors of large fire protection districts, and managers of search-and-rescue teams who have deployed to multiple national disasters.
As educators, board members are actively involved as authors of articles on emergency medicine and lecturers at colleges, universities, and national conferences. Board members hold memberships in the National Association of EMS Physicians, National Association of EMS Educators, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, American College of Emergency Physicians, and numerous other organizations.
Dr. Christopher J. Bosche, MD, FACEP, Executive Medical Director, Co-Chair Dr. Bosche is a board-certified emergency physician at a level 1 trauma and burn center in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Boshe has been involved in emergency medical services for over 20 years, starting out as a firefighter/EMT and eventually becoming a flight physician with an aeromedical helicopter service. He is currently the medical director of a large suburban fire protection district and regularly assists with the EMS education provided by his hospital to local EMS crews. In addition, Dr. Bosche is also the medical team manager for the Missouri Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team and has deployed to multiple disasters including the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and the Joplin, Missouri tornado.
Judson Smith, MHA, CCEMT-P, VP of Continuing Education, Co-Chair Judson Smith brings over 20 years of EMS and critical care pre-hospital experience to the medical advisory board. A licensed critical care paramedic, he also currently serves as an officer in an Air Force Reserves aeromedical evacuation squadron. In 2014 Judson founded Code3 CME to provide EMT, paramedic, and critical care transport training with a level of educational support he felt was lacking in the industry. Judson has also been a guest speaker at EMS events throughout the country. He holds a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Lindenwood University.
Jason Haag, Director of Academic Affairs Jason has over 13 years of EMS experience. He joined Finger Lakes Ambulance as a dispatcher and has risen through the ranks to become Captain. He has served as the head of the education department since 2014, offering AHA classes to area EMS agencies, 4 regional hospitals, and all other allied healthcare professionals. He has also hosted a number of annual Education Day events, as well as a 2-day PHTLS class in cooperation with Strong Memorial Hospital, where he is also an educator for the trauma center and medical school. Jason has also served as a fourth generation firefighter for the City of Geneva. Jason graduated from Monroe Community College in 2006 in fire science and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Education.
Mark Dzwonkiewicz, FP-C, LI Mark is a certified flight paramedic specializing in critical care. He began his career as a combat medic for the US Army in 1982 and has worked steadily in the field ever since, including 10 years on a hospital-based critical care transport team at a level 1 trauma center. A natural leader and teacher, Mark has taken on additional responsibilities including teaching paramedic education programs. He is an active Illinois lead instructor; a CPR, ACLS, and PALS instructor; and has also developed and taught ventilator training programs for flight and ground critical care programs. Mark’s “Vascular Access 101” is mandatory training for all incoming RNs at several Chicago area hospitals.
Will B. Hendon, EMS Educator After a 10-year career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Will Hendon decided to go back to college to become a paramedic. He attended Texas State Technical College in Abilene, Texas. He earned his degree along with the college’s Presidential Award, among others. Will currently works in Abilene as an EMT and field paramedic where he easily stepped into the role of operations supervisor due to his leadership experience from his time with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and his passion for people.
Janet Taylor, RN, CFRN Janet is a full-time flight nurse for Mercy Life Line from Springfield, MO. In addition to EMS, she has worked in the ICU, ER, and OB in order to be familiar with the different types of calls that she and her partner may encounter in EMS. Janet has her bachelor’s in Nursing and enjoys teaching part time at various EMS conferences throughout the year in addition to writing articles for various industry magazines.
